Welcome to Michigan Al-Anon Family Groups (MIAFG)

Welcome to Michigan Al-Anon Family Groups, MIAFG. If you are troubled by someone else’s drinking, you are in the right place. At MIAFG, you will find the Al-Anon program, its principles, how to find Al-Anon meetings (in person and online), as well as literature, resources, and Al-Anon events happening all over Michigan.

Al-Anon members are people like you and me who have been affected by someone else’s drinking.

Tradition 5 states: Each Al-Anon family group has but one purpose: to help families of alcoholics. We do this by practicing the 12 steps of AA ourselves, by encouraging and understanding our alcoholic relatives, and by welcoming and giving comfort to families of alcoholics.

To find a meeting...

To find a meeting, use the tool at the World Service Office Website.  Go to:  https://al-anon.org/al-anon-meetings/find-an-al-anon-meeting/.

  • NOTE:  It may be useful to also check the local Al-Anon website (google the name of the town or city and add the word "Al-Anon" or AFG for "Al-Anon Family Groups") to verify the meetings are now occuring in person.  Some may still be meeting via zoom.

The Al-Anon World Service Office (WSO) also offers electronic meetings. A list of them is available here: https://al-anon.org/al-anon-meetings/electronic-meetings/

For newcomers, there is information available for you at this link:  https://al-anon.org/series/welcome-newcomers/

Al-Anon meetings are for anyone who has been affected by someone else’s drinking.  All are welcome. People who attend these Al-Anon meetings include friends and family members of alcoholics.  Also welcome are students, professionals and human resources employees who work with alcoholics and their families.

Local Meeting Information Services

Local meeting information services may have information about temporary cancellations and re-locations that the World Service Office does not have. They can be particularly helpful to contact if you plan to attend a meeting around a holiday.
