AL-ANON MEMBER BLOG

“How do you demonstrate love when detaching ‘with love’?”

When dealing with alcoholism, we may find ourselves close to resentment, feeling irritable and unreasonable without knowing it. July’s blog topic is, “How do you demonstrate love when detaching ‘with love’?”

As always, you can also write about Al-Anon’s three Legacies. This month features Step Seven, Tradition Seven, and Concept Seven.

Please share with us at al-anon.org/member-blog

Sharings on the Member Blog may be used in future Al-Anon publications.

New topics are being added each month!

Share Your Recovery on Our Member Blog

The Member Blog on al-anon.org is an excellent resource for reading about the experience, strength, and hope of fellow members, as well as sharing your own!

The monthly blog topics are a great source for meeting topics, and members are welcome to chair meetings using these topics. However, while the blog aims to connect and inspire members to share their recovery stories, comments posted on the blog topic of the month are not meant to be used in meetings, as they have not been reviewed through our member-review processes.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when submitting your posts:

  • When comments are submitted to the blog, they enter a moderation process that may take up to ten business days.
  • Moderators may edit comments in accordance with Al-Anon policy to remove personally identifiable information and ensure anonymity is protected. Additionally, they may remove derogatory language, inflammatory statements, or content unrelated to the topic.
  • Moderators reserve the right to not publish comments that do not align with Al‑Anon's Traditions and spiritual principles, including those that could potentially draw Al-Anon into controversy.
  • The comment feature is disabled on articles related to Al-Anon policy. Members are encouraged to use their links of service to discuss these articles.

Visit al-anon.org/member-blog today to read, share, be inspired, and inspire others on their recovery journey!

Writing for the Forum

Why Sharings Are Edited for Publication

Your most important contribution to The Forum is not necessarily the quality of your writing, but the honest and heartfelt communication of your experience as an Al-Anon member. Sharings selected for publication are edited for spelling, punctuation, grammar, clarity, and length with care and sensitivity by Al-Anon members of the World Service Office Staff. Go to al-anon.org/forum-processto learn more about how members’ submissions become monthly issues of The Forum magazine.

The Role of Al-Anon LDCs

Al-Anon Literature Distribution Centers (LDCs) provide Al-Anon members with local access to and quick delivery of Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature (CAL) and other Al-Anon materials. The LDCs and the World Service Office (WSO) work in partnership to carry the message of hope and recovery through Conference Approved Literature and service tools. LDCs can purchase literature at a discounted price from the WSO, which allows them to offer it to members in their local Area. Members can purchase literature from their local LDC, thereby supporting local services, or directly from the WSO.

The WSO does not sell printed copies of CAL on platforms like Amazon; however, electronic versions are available through several ebook vendor platforms. While we cannot prevent others from reselling our printed literature on services such as Amazon, members should be aware that purchasing through such sources does not support Al-Anon’s links of service. We encourage members to purchase printed literature from their local LDC or the WSO, which ensures fair pricing and supports our service links.

For more information, please refer to “Local Services” in the “Digest of Al-Anon and Alateen Policies” section of the Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual (P-24/27).
